The ocean, with you.
Side by side
We sit at the ocean’s edge and watch the evening light,
and wind-blown waves capped with white.
The tide rolls in
From beyond the horizon,
From a place we can only imagine.
The blue-green water washes the sand smooth,
And waves toss the tangled spray into crystal
That dances in the gold-pink light.
Side by side
We sit at the ocean’s edge on driftwood
polished by rain and sand, wind and time.
In the moments before dusk,
A lingering sun falls to a waiting horizon
And the late September chills.
We move closer, and watch and listen.
The waves play songs
Of hopes not yet realized and dreams waiting to come true.
This moment we have.
