Raindrops on flowers are one of my favorite things. Like the song, “My Favorite Things” from The Sound of Music, I think they are always beautiful. Through a camera lens, they are jewels for a brief but spectacular moment.
Emily Dickinson seems to have felt the same way.
Summer Showers [excerpt]
A drop fell on the apple tree
Another on the roof;
A half a dozen kissed the eaves,
And made the gables laugh.
A few went out to help the brook,
That went to help the sea.
Myself conjectured, Were they pearls,
What necklaces could be!
