MIKE’S ZINNIAS

At my last home, I had a friend and neighbor who?s a project superintendent for a large commercial construction company. Mike loves smoking cigars and drinking beer, and is passionate about the Kansas City Chiefs. He also grows the most beautiful flowers in the neighborhood and I wrote this poem as a tribute to Mike and his fabulous flowers.

Mike?s Zinnias

Ignited by a blazing summer sun,
A burst,
A splash,
A razzle-dazzle blast!
Red hot rockets
Explode past flaming feathers
Flying off an orange firebird.
While yellow sparklers flare
Flinging fireballs on some of those
hot-headed, rosy red flowers.
What a festival of flash.
